Sometimes when plugging in the power to the notebook, the LED on the cord does not light. The notebook will be charging, but the LED is off. Typically removing and reinstalling the cord, or re-adjusting it will have the light come back on. My notebook required the MagSafe 1 to MagSafe 2 adapter, so I have not been able to see if the adapter might be causing the issue. I tried the display with someone else notebook and there was no issue with the LED so maybe it was my notebook?
I'm sorry I can't tell you more and maybe it won't be an issue for you at all, but I wanted to ensure that you were aware. The display ships in it's original box but not with the original internal packaging. Please let me know if you have other questions.
